"Love"

Love is kind of weird, isn't it? the word by itself is quite amusing to observe if you ask me.

I can say i love cheesecake, or i can say to my friend "i'm sorry, i love you" after accidentally stepping on her foot... but then i could be in a relationship, and saying it would be a whole new thing. I guess the perspective (More on perspective later) comes from the meaning behind it, because love can be a strong feeling, maybe even the strongest, but it can also be used to describe fine slice of pizza.
In addition, if i were to ask someone what they love their mind would go blank, like a selective group of activities or people had to be chosen with greater precision than a surgeon that tries to save someone's life by removing microscopic residue from someone's body with the aid of top notch technology and well.. mad skillz.

What makes it more amusing is that every day, every minute, they do something they love. Be it talk, read, listen write, or even 'chill', because things that to some are near meaningless, or just 'meh', can be another's cold glass of lemonade in the desert. So maybe next time someone asks what i love i should just answer "life", because that's what its all about. Not about things, activities, or people, but about how the three combine to create the experience that some of us consider a pleasure to live every single day.

Notes:

-Use of “skillz” in 2nd paragraph: I like to keep it kinda casual
-Still not sure why i’m writing on here

A Society Divided by Intelligence

What if we divided our society? Not by race or by age, but by intelligence, in a smart way of course.

While a society divided by intelligence might sound like people being discriminated on whether they get A's, B's or D's (similar to our society now), i am talking about creating divisions according to people's capacity. All our lives we are told that no one is dumb and that everyone simply has different capacities. Recently, in a class whose purpose I won’t even bother trying to describe, I was thought this same concept, but with the proper terms and divisions. This got me thinking about how if we were to divide people by their capacities, with specified testing and not standardized testing, our society could take a leap forward.

Think of it this way: If I am good at math but I am only thought math once a day, in a class with people that do not have my pace of learning, I will never truly expand my understanding of math, and same goes for every subject. However, if we were to take everyone with a dominant logical intelligence and allow them to strengthen their capacities involving this type of intelligence, in a faster pace, as well as with people who have a similar interest in said subject, they can truly learn.

This reminded me of a book I read in my English class, two years ago. It’s called The Giver, By Lois Lowry. In this book, an apparent utopian society is presented, in which people are thought basic values, such as teamwork, effort, and responsibility up until they are 12 years old. At this point, a committee selects what their future shall be, based on their past experiences. This way, everyone dedicates to doing something that they could both enjoy and be good at. My take on this is to have a similar approach, however, keeping the liberal rights such as marriage, friendship, and ownership, which are taken away from the habitants of the society presented in the book.

Of course, a change in society's hierarchy is way too drastic of a change that in my opinion, may never even be possible to accomplish (or worth making, for that matter). However, I think a change in education isn’t too crazy to think of. Imagine instead of going into class and sitting through every class you'd love not to be in, instead of waiting for science, for math, for French, for art... Just waiting for that one class where you truly enjoy learning, you would go directly into that class, accompanied with people who, like you, want to be there too. You’d still have to get basic learning of other subjects, but it would allow you to practice and do much more with the dominant intelligence.
